Ascension Day in London

There is tower top singing at St Michael’s Cornhill this Thursday 29 May to mark Ascension Day.

The congregation is invited to join the choir on the roof after the 1pm Choral Eucharist.

The sound of Bow Bells will echo down Cheapside and Bow Lane for 45 minutes before the Solemn Mass at 1.05pm in St Mary-le-Bow.

This year there is no tower top singing at Southwark Cathedral due to building work but there will be singing at the west of the nave at 7.15am.

Ascension Day is also a time for beating the bounds. This happens as usual in All Hallows-by-the-Tower parish starting at 3.15pm. The route includes the river boundary which some will visit by boat. Festal Evensong follows at 5.30pm.

This is one of years when the Tower of London beats the bounds of its liberty. Church and beefeaters will meet on Tower Hill at 7pm.
